It
doesn't exist, but it has a 150 years old history at least. No one has never seen
it, but someone says that its profile ruins the panorama. There's no bridge but
is fame is so great that to the other side of the Earth, between Java and Sumatra,
there are people who would build its twin bridge. The bridge of the Straits of
Messina it's one rare case where dream become more real than reality. There are
photographic simulations, environments studies and positive evaluations made by
overseas private companies.
The project foresees to ride the Straits in
one single "jump". The main span will be 3,300 metres long, exceeding
for more than 1km the longest one currently located in Japan. Actually the first
ideas about the bridge of the Straits of Messina are aged around half way through
1800. Just around the end of the '60s it was launched an "ideas contest"
about the bridge. Today it's been achieved the right project, that perfectly join
together engineering quality with low costs.
