"ANTICHI VINAI"- Old Wine Producers - was born as a natural evolution of a continuous work by four family generations (since 1877). A marvellous landscape places the firm among vineyards and pinewoods. The mumbling Etna carefully looks at the valley of Alcantara River and Taormina's golden shores. Entering in the cellars, anyone can understand how it's possible that Tradition and Modern Technology may be merged together leaving the landscape untouched. The selection of the best grapes in the D.O.C. areas of Etna; the process of soft pressing and fermentation at controlled temperature of the grapes; the process of sparkling and the suggestive ageing chamber altogether with a very modern system of bottling, it's a result of the professional and reliable family management of "Antichi Vinai". |

| The
firm is located at Passopisciaro, close to Castiglione di Sicilia, town
of wine in the D.O.C. territories of Etna. Giacomo Gangemi, the administrator,
sees now in the scene his own sons, Giuseppe (enologo) and Marco (administration).
Numbers speak for them, Through good marketing and management they have
sold over 400,000 bottles in the 2001. Nowadays more than 500,000. Their
target is
a quality wine's production using native vineyards like Nero d'Avola, Nerello
Mascalese (Etna D.O.C.) for red wine. Insolia and Carricante for white
one.
Only exception for "Charin", white wine produced with Chardonnay
and Insolia grapes. A careful selection of grapes in special "terroir"
areas of microclimate gives a high quality level to their wine. Right here,
beneath Etna there is a unique territory. Thanks to the ground
composition, with a huge mineral concentration that represents a perfect
place and meet all the right criterias for a perfect wine. The firm's market already looks and works over the Italian borderlines, and reach its customers all over the world: Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Finland and U.S.A. And also aims to create something for amateur visitors, enhancing the new way of "eno turism". To know more about it you can also take a look at the website: www.antichivinai.it |
